Passing through West Virginia on many trips between Pennsylvania and Florida, I finally stopped to savor its beauty. While the strip mining and mountain crushing of the coal belt still troubles me, there is much beauty in West Virginia off the main highways. I've camped, hiked, and crawled through caverns along the state's byways, and spent hours poring over folk art finds.
